Martin is a regular contributer to knowthemusicbiz.com, a web site that’s name pretty much explains it all. His recent blog post is all about “Triumph in the Face of Adversity,” a.k.a. taking personal responsibility for your situation as a musician.
There’s no need to recap the helpful tidbits of advice and inspiration on this page when all you have to do is gohere to read the full blog post.
Better than the Van is an awesome website devoted to helping bands find free places to stay while on tour. The idea is simple. You create a profile saying where you are, who you are and whether you have a place to offer or need a place to crash. The profiles are really easy to create (and I mean really easy) and it’s a great way to make connections with people in the cities you’re visiting. But don’t take our word for it, Co-Founder Todd Hansen was kind enough to answer a couple questions for us that show how BTTV philosophies are in line with the Tour:Smart way of life. If you want to support BTTV they’re having a pledge drive to fund a website update that will add new features and make the page generally more helpful to bands. You can donate here.
Do You? Do you also like Tour:Smart? Well then this will really rev your engines.
Martin Atkins’ industrial supergroup Pigface just dropped their sixth studio album “6″ on Full Effect Records on June 9th. In case like Martin says, you should really consider the source of the information you’re getting. Here’s a guy that can teach you all about touring and is still making music himself (even if this record did take a few years). You can buy the 11 tracks of sonic bliss now here:
