picture-12If you weren’t in New York last week (or if you were and didn’t go to the New Music Seminar) you missed out out on learning about the future of our industry from some really awesome people. Premiere music industry web site Billboard.biz did a write up about panel Martin was on entitled “Your Live Show and Tour.” You can read the full post here, which focuses on how Martin was “the highlight of the panel.

The article opens:

It’s not often that a panelist ends his presentation by throwing blueberry muffins out into the crowd - or that he advises musical artists in attendance to do the same at theirblueberrymuffins shows. But that is exactly what Martin Atkins, author of “Tour:Smart” and CEO of Invisible Records, did at Tuesday’s New Music Seminar during the panel titled “Your Live Show and Tour.”

Ahhh, good old blueberry muffins.

If you didn’t make it to the New York edition of the NMS there is one coming up in Chicago October, 6th at the Park West Theatre.

What’s you’re favorite kind of muffin? Mine’s my Mom’s Oatmeal muffins! Yummy! Share yours in the comments after the jump…

Editor’s Note: This post is Martin’s response to this article about the indie rock group Dirty Projectorsrecent car the day after their show at Chicago’s Millenium Park. You can read a review of the show here.

I’m an asshole I guess, but when I read a headline like Dirty Projectors Involved in Van Crash I automatically look for the first paragraph where the band describes their maaaad drunken tequila-ness and swerving all over the road as they fought over a girl, drugs or a sandwich. BUT, here we are again, read the story - it’s NOT always about how good of a driver you are or how sober you are (but that helps surely) this is a story of a truck swerving into a car ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY and sending that car across the median… like the extending of the olive branch except not as friendly and at a combined speed of 14o MPH.
I’m reminded of a story i heard as i was sitting in totally stopped traffic in upstate new york or downstate somewhere or maybe Scotland… the story is that a Fed Ex driver had a heart attack and (of course because Murphy s Law is always in full effect) stomped on the accelerator and rammed a few cars and trucks, and I think killed a few people in his last uncontrollable gesture… It turns out I was just a few vehicles behind, probably yacking on my phone.
Please!!! Be careful out there!
Unless you’re a country and western band in which case - go for it dude - you are indestructible.
